What is a liquidation?

In futures trading, when margin can no longer support a position, the exchange force-closes it. That is a liquidation. This site tracks the notional USD value of liquidated positions, aggregated over 1h, 4h, 12h and 24h windows.

How do long/short liquidations map to the colors?

Long liquidations are leveraged longs closed as prices fall; short liquidations are shorts closed as prices rise. This site uses teal-green for longs, red for shorts and orange for peaks and anomaly signals; in the trend bars longs sit below, shorts above.

What is the time-window switcher for?

The 1h/4h/12h/24h switcher on the home and ranking pages updates the core stats, coin and exchange rankings and the largest-order list together. Short windows show what is happening now, long windows show overall scale.

How do I read the liquidation heatmap?

The heatmap estimates where liquidation notional concentrates by price level over time; brighter cells mean larger clusters. The table below lists the biggest clusters and their distance from the current price.

Where does the data come from and how often does it update?

Data is aggregated from public forced-liquidation feeds of major exchanges. Pages refresh automatically every 60 seconds and times are shown in ET. All figures are statistics, not forecasts or investment advice.
